Puzzling World at Wanaka
Whether or not you’re planning on taking the taxi boat across Lake Wanaka with your family, seek out the strange family attraction called Puzzling World. This place is full of brainteasers and optical illusions on a grand scale. It has been running since the 1970s and is a singular place, to say the least. Children and adults will get a kick out of its puzzles including the ‘Great Maze’.
The Trig Track at Pauanui
Ideal for Accor Vacation Club members who have booked into the refined Grand Mercure Puka Park Resort, the Trig track at Pauanui is a trail that older children can enjoy on their own or with adults. The start of the track can be found easily at the car park that is situated at the end of Pauanui Beach Road. The Trig track winds its way through the stunning coastal forest and opens up on several beaches and coves along the way which are just waiting to be enjoyed.
The Underwater Observatory at Queenstown
With a location that offers commanding views over Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown has plenty of outdoor activities to suit all families. Don’t miss out on the observatory, however, which affords visitors the chance to see what life is like beneath the surface of the lake. It is ideal for a rainy day and allows children the chance to learn about some Maori mythology about the lake, too.
Sky Tower in Auckland
With a public viewing platform, the Sky Tower in Auckland is a great place to head with the family. From the tallest man-made structure in the entire country, you can see for miles in every direction. The tower is 328 metres high and the owners of the building organise events that are specifically aimed at families who want to head up inside during the school summer break.
