Visit the antiquated Augusta Water Wheel to see how water was pumped to the nearby Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse and the lighthouse keeper’s cottage back in the 1890s. Read the information plaque about the site's history, the water system and the fresh water spring it flows from.
The easily accessible site offers picturesque views of the surrounding coastal scenery and is within the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park.
Enjoy a one hour walk from the Water Wheel to Skippy Rock which leads you along beaches, rocks and through the coastal bushland of the national park. A detailed brochure about the walk can be found at the Augusta Visitors Centre.
The Water Wheel is a short 10 minute drive south of Augusta and four hours drive south of Perth.
