Yankalilla and district Historical Society presents speaker Ruth (nee Magor) Gates who outlines her ancestor Jemima Osborne's journey from the squalor of post industrial revolution United Kingdom to start a new life in the colonies. After arriving in South Australia in 1855 at the age of nine, the family settled in the Yankalilla area and in 1863 Jemima married John Magor (jnr) from a neighbouring pioneer family. They worked hard to realise the dream of their parents, but when tragedy struck, Jemima's life took a very different path.
