The iconic Austral Hotel is set in the east end and has been the heart of Adelaide on Rundle street since the 1880's. It was built by the South Australian Company and became The Austral in 1898. It was the first pub in South Australia to have Cooper's on tap.
The Austral Hotel was a well-known place for illegal betting in the 1950s and was the centre of the live band Scene in the 80's & 90's. The Austral's rich heritage is still alive today. A restoration was undertaken in 2020.
So whether it's a drink in the front bar after work or a cosy dinner by the open fires The Austral is a great place to enjoy yourself and immerse yourself in South Australia's history.
