Together the Fernleigh Track and the Fernleigh Awabakal Shared Track provides a 27 kilometre continuous active transport route from Adamstown to Murrays Beach. The Fernleigh Awabakal Shared Track forms part of the Coastline R1 Regional Cycleway, part of the Greater Newcastle Principle Bicycle Network.
Features include an elevated boardwalk over Belmont Lagoon, birdwatching loop and lookout and Aboriginal artwork featuring sculptural interpretations of a Gunya shelter, a bark canoe and other features of an aboriginal camp.
Start at the southern end of the existing Fernleigh Track in Belmont, with parking available near the old Belmont railway station or join the track from the Pacific Highway at Blacksmiths, making it convenient for surrounding areas.
