The Yellow Door Kitchen is Newcastle’s only dedicated cooking school. Located in the inner-city suburb of Tighes Hill in the old Who Printing Warehouse.
The Yellow Door Kitchen Cooking School offers hands-on cooking experiences in a stylish, purpose-built commercial space.
Established by pastry chef Janet Newton, this vibrant school welcomes participants of all ages to learn a wide variety of culinary skills. Newton, a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef, draws on her passion for teaching and cooking to offer classes focused on making beautiful food using best seasonal ingredients available.
With offerings like chocolate making, puff pastry master class, choux pastry, classic French tarts, bread making, pasta, and gluten-free baking, the school provides an inviting environment to explore French and Italian cuisines, among others. Classes are tailored to groups of 10-15, encouraging interactive learning and communal dining in the light-filled dining room. There are also dedicated children's and gluten-free sessions, making it an inclusive space for diverse culinary needs.
The Yellow Door Kitchen also hosts corporate team-building events and private functions and boasts a 20 seat dining room.
There is a class for everyone at The Yellow Door Kitchen whether it’s participating in a hands-on class or watching a cooking demonstration while enjoying a glass of wine with friends.
