If you are into fishing, there have been many a Whiting caught off the groyne, or if just looking at the fish is more to your liking, the Cottesloe Reef is a popular snorkelling site. With a number of limestone platforms, it is home to a vast range of aquatic life including fish, shellfish, crustaceans, weedy seadragons and the rare leafy seadragon,
The Surf Life Saving Club monitors the beach during summer and there are public toilets and changing facilities available. North Cottesloe Beach is a 15-minute drive from Perth, and is well serviced by buses.
