To celebrate 40 years since the first Australian production, Gilbert and Sullivan’s beloved Pirates of Penzance are docking back in Brisbane!
Join the band of bumbling buccaneers, fleet-footed police, Victorian maidens, the rabble-rousing Pirate King, and the tongue-twisting Major-General for a shipload of musical comedy whose delightful harmonies and humour will steal your heart away!
Following the great success of Jersey Boys earlier this year and their previous concert productions of The Wizard of Oz and Singin’ in the Rain, Prospero Arts are thrilled to present what many consider to be one of the funniest musicals of all-time. This brand-new, semi-staged, concert production of the crowd-pleasing classic, directed by the acclaimed Stuart Maunder, will sail into the QPAC Concert Hall this December.
Under the baton of international award-winning musical director Isaac Haywood, relive your G&S favourites including “I am the Pirate King”, “Poor, Wandering One” and “I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General”, supported by a full, on-stage orchestra.
Featuring the vocal strength and elegance of some of our country’s best performers, come and witness this unforgettable reimagining of the story of a mischievous pirate king and his reckless young charge who search the sea and coastline for a life of love and treasure.
Silly, romantic, and completely iconic, The Pirates of Penzance is an all-out musical adventure!
