The Aussie Peace Walk is a two-day international walking festival that draws participants to Canberra from around the world to experience the sights and sounds of ‘the Bush Capital.’
This event is one of the best ways to see the national capital, with walks through well-maintained gardens, past significant monuments and along bush tracks.
Participants come from around the world to take part in a variety of walks held on Saturday and Sunday. Participants who complete one walk of 10 kilometres or more on each day are presented with an Aussie Peace Walk medal or a 'year bar' to add to their collection.
The most popular walk combination is a 21-kilometre walk on Saturday backed up with a 24-kilometre walk on Sunday. Those who want more of a challenge can choose a 42.2-kilometre walk followed by the 24-kilometre. There are also 7-kilometre and 12-kilometre options available for all ages and fitness levels.
