Grounded by Robyn Evans, Sabina Moore, Amanda Andlee Poland
The Grounded Collective is three artists researching place, time and memory. Through drawing and sculpture, the act of making is amplified by each artist in a three-way conversation to produce site-specific works, both collaborative and individual, that overlaps ideas and practice.
‘I know that when I walk, thoughts flow. A torrent of memories and images coalesce in my near focus, and then, over time, the mass of those impressions flit away, leaving a residue of bright imagery – a cluster of intuitions…’ - Jono Lineen, Perfect Motion, 2019 (Penguin Random House)
The act of walking on these geographical sites allows for responses to come forth and breathe. The subject is brought into the dialogue, observed and recorded to later develop in the studio: Robyn Evans uses drawing processes to research experience and time through the subjects of ground, water and sky. Sabina Moore begins with architectural fragments and the impact of human memory on the landscape. Amanda Andlee Poland’s works place an extended focus on the beauty inherent in nature and plants signify place and symbolise hope and growth.
