What is it about Australia and "big things"? It's one of the mysteries of the modern world. Here is a dandy example: the Big Rusty Pelican is the creative output of the Gravelly Beach Metalworks, a family business across the river making "many unique and one-off designs" run by Karin & Michael Gethin.
The pelican was made at the behest of Kinimathatakinta/George Town Council who wanted to "enhance public spaces and the relationship between the environment, the community, and the places by creatively recognising the local wildlife."
