Rockingham Jetty is the place in Perth to tick off a big item on your wish list and join a tour to swim with wild bottlenose dolphins. Locals in the seaside town love to fish from the jetty too, and it’s a favourite paddle boarding, swimming and kayaking spot.
You’ll find the jetty on the far eastern corner of Rockingham’s Esplanade, just a 45-minute drive south of Perth on the Kwinana Freeway.
Join a tour and cruise the sheltered waters of Rockingham and Shoalwater Islands Marine Park in search of some of Rockingham’s 200 plus playful bottlenose residents. Take a swim for an unforgettable close encounter, or watch from the comfort of the boat as these intelligent creatures ride the bow wave. Tours depart from the jetty daily between September and early June.
Drop a line from the jetty for lunch or dinner - it’s a hotspot for herring, whiting, snapper, mulloway and evening squid fishing. If you’re lucky, you might even snare a tuna and Spanish mackerel.
Or hit Rockingham’s cafe strip, just a few steps from the jetty, where you can drink in the stunning Indian Ocean views as you enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.
