Jewel Cave is the largest show cave in Western Australia and is recognised by visitors from across the globe as one of the world’s most spectacular tourist caves; encrusted with gleaming crystal ornaments throughout its three massive chambers. Within this breathtaking magnitude, hangs a delicate straw stalactite; a hollow crystal tube the diameter of just a single water droplet, it grows down into the cave darkness for almost five and a half meters, reaching longer than any other in all the show caves in Australia.
In the soft golden glow of spotlights, the sheer magnitude and beauty of Jewel Cave's formations leave all visitors awe-struck. During early exploration of the cave, another extraordinary treasure was discovered, in the form of an ancient Tasmanian tiger fossil. A similar one is now on display in the interpretation centre.
You'll find this gem just 45 kilometres south of Margaret River or, if you're driving up from Augusta, it's just nine kilometres to the north, along Caves Road. You can enjoy coffee, homemade treats and light lunches at the Jewel Cave Cafe, complete with stunning forest views.
