Good Morning Vietnam at the Jetty Memorial Theatre
Good Morning Vietnam – Music from the Vietnam War Era delivers the soundtrack to one of the most divisive conflicts, where the music of the 60’s and 70’s was used as a weapon of peace to apply pressure on the American Government, in an effort to cease involvement in the Vietnam War.
For those on the front lines until the fall of Saigon in 1975, these songs were indelible and provided a release from the isolation and uncertainty they felt in hostile environments, far away from the political turmoil and protests back home.
This two hour concert is a commemoration of an era and transcends emotions through an anthemic set list from Creedence Clearwater Revival, Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, James Brown, Three Dog Night, Tina Turner, The Animals, Janis Joplin, The Doors and so much more.
Musical Director and guitarist Simon Gardner shares the stage with Shaleena Bain, Chris Herden, Tommy Hynes and Terry Million and says: “The rock music created during the Vietnam War period was ground-breaking in that it reflected immense unrest as well as the greatest powers of all – peace and love. I absolutely love playing these songs and view this show as an opportunity to honour and pay tribute to those involved.”
