Christmas Launch

Celebrate the first lighting of the City’s Christmas tree, the opening of Christmas Square at Fed Square and the launch of the City of Melbourne’s Christmas Festival, with face-painting, performance, music and Christmas magic. Each year, the first lighting of the Christmas tree hearkens the beginning of the festive season in Melbourne. Join in this special, free celebration! 6.30pm: Festivities commence with free face painting, roving entertainment and DJ set 7.10pm: Consort of Melbourne choir performance 7.30pm: DJ set 8pm: The Huxleys roving performance 8.10pm: Consort of Melbourne choir performance 8.30pm: Official proceedings commence 8:55pm: Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast the Musical performance 9pm: The Christmas Tree lights up! Christmas Square is presented by the City of Melbourne, in partnership with Fed Square. Christmas Square is lighting up with 100% wind powered Christmas cheer.
