The National Clydesdale and Heavy Horse Festival has grown to be one of Australia's largest displays of heavy horses.
The festival is much more than just a ‘horse show’ enabling the general public to be entertained and interact with show ring activities, visit the displays in the trade village and be able to enjoy the show with full commentary, ringside seating with numerous food vans to enjoy a full day or weekend of watching these lovely horses on show.
Full commentary, demonstrations, trade and market stalls are a major part of the festival enabling the free flow of information between participants and the general public.
An extensive program for exhibitors provides opportunities for all ages to participate in a relaxed and cohesive environment.
There will be classes on offer such as led stud stock heavy breeds, heavy harness, working draft, long reining/obstacle course, ridden heavy horse, rider classes and the unique unofficial heavy horse dressage competition. Heavy breeds such as Clydesdale, Shire, Percheron, Suffolk Punch, Gypsy Cob, Drum Horse, Friesian, Highland Pony, Fjord and Haflinger will be on show.
The National Equestrian Centre is part of the Werribee Park Precinct with the Werribee Zoo, Werribee Park Mansion and the State Rose Garden only minutes away.
