Convent Bakery is a renowned institution within the Abbotsford Convent precinct serving locals and visitors with freshly baked goods.
Surrounded by the Collingwood Children’s Farm and Yarra Bend Park, the Abbotsford Convent with its 11 magnificent buildings is an extraordinary place and is becoming an important art, educational and cultural precinct in Melbourne.
Within these historic grounds, the Convent Bakery was established.
Nestled within the wall of the Convent Annexe or Kitchen wing are two magnificent wood-fired mansory ovens built in 1901. Amazingly it is in these ovens that the Convent Bakery uses for Weekend Bread classes that produce a unique variety of old fashioned wood fired bread.
