The Hordern Pavilion, simply known as The Hordern to locals, has hosted everything from up-and-coming bands to music festivals and fashion runway shows to the epic Mardi Gras Party.
Built in 1924 by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, it was originally used as exhibition space for the Royal Easter Show when it was based at Moore Park. It’s all that big, open space that makes it a fantastic venue. It can be left bare for a dance party, put in rows of chairs for a seated concert or install seating around the edges and leave the middle empty for a mosh pit.
One of its big drawcards is the location. Right next to the Entertainment Quarter, it’s easy to park or it’s just a short stroll from Central Station if coming via public transport.
