The Merivale group’s casual Middle Eastern restaurant buzzes around the clock, with punters here hanging out in booths til late, devouring falafels, mezze plates and skewers straight of the lebachi grill. You can also grab a takeaway pita on George Street.
If you’re dining in, look forward to a menu that includes hummus, baba ganoush, labne and warm Lebanese bread to mop the dips up. There are pickles, fresh salads… and then the good stuff. Chefs prepare all manner of meats, seafoods and vegetables on the lebachi grill, from calamari and chicken shish to wagyu, a whole snapper, and Jimmy’s famous lamb, the latter of which is shoulder and belly and comes on a bulgar-vermicelli pilaf with oregano and cucumber yoghurt. The aroma is intoxicating, and the flavour even better.
