Mansfield Historical Society aims to preserve and promote the history of Mansfield and surrounding districts.
Located at the old Mansfield Railway Station building in High Street, its committee of volunteers work together to present the current – ‘known history of the region’ so together they can, conserve, share, explore, remember and learn about the many valuable stories of its past.
A changing display of historic photographs of the Mansfield region has been set up.
Its considerable archives and databases, contain a wealth of information about the history of Mansfield and the surrounding district including genealogical information, microfiche documents, photos, memorabilia, maps and an extensive clothing collection. For a fee, the archival system enables their research team to track down information for you about early Mansfield.
The Society has many books, souvenirs and photographs of the local area that are also available for purchase.
The Mansfield Historical Society warmly welcomes new members and volunteers. It encourages them to become involved with the preservation of historical information, by archiving and digitally storing items, helping with enquiries from the community and visitors during opening hours at the Mansfield Railway Station rooms and assisting with their various activities.
