Brighton Beach is a little local secret just to the south of Perth’s famous surf spot, Scarborough Beach. This stretch of clean white sand gets its fair share of big wave action, and is often a lot quieter than its popular neighbour.
From central Perth, it’s an easy 15-minute drive to reach Brighton Beach. If you don’t have wheels, you can hop on a bus from the city station, or jump on the Joondalup Line north to Glendalough Station and catch a bus to Scarborough.
There, you can enjoy some of Perth’s 3000 annual hours of sunshine with a swim, a surf, or by trying your luck at beach fishing. If the sea breeze is up, watch the stunts pulled by the local windsurfers and kitesurfers, or get in the water and grab some of the wave and wind action yourself.
All this, and you’re still just a short beach stroll away from the buzz of Scarborough, with its lively amphitheatre events, shops and casual cafes, restaurants and bars, pubs and clubs, hotels and hostels.
