The Kep Track is a 75 kilometre easy multi-use trail that uses the rail formation between Mundaring in the Perth Hills to Northam, east of Perth. This Top Trail is aligned to the Golden Pipeline Drive Trail, following part of CY O'Connor's pipeline which continues from Mundaring Weir to Kalgoorlie. The track passes through the communities of Mundaring, Sawyers Valley, Mount Helena, Wundowie, Bakers Hill and Clackline.
The Kep is wider than other tracks so walkers, bike riders and horses can share the route. There is multiple access points which means walkers from any level (from strollers to end-to-enders) are catered for. It is an easy ride being reasonably flat with few hazards (beware of rabbit holes and road crossings). Riders can park and ride from pretty much any town along the way.
As there are a number of small towns, walkers, cyclists and equestrians have easy access to facilities and shops (check opening times). Those who want to go end-to-end should speak to one of the Visitor Centres to source suitable accommodation.
The trail is well signed with trail heads at Northam and Mundaring Weir.
