One of Perth’s most delightful parklands, Lake Monger is home to the famous black swan.
You can see black swans and many other water birds that exist on the lake, thanks to the creation of a special breeding island. Here, native plants allow the swans to live in their natural environment.
The black swan is an important part of Western Australia’s heritage. It features on the state flag and the city’s major river system was named after this elegant water bird.
You can learn more about the bird life at Lake Monger on special interpretive displays and boardwalks.
The lake is surrounded by spacious lawns and a walk and cycle path making it popular among locals who go walking, jogging and cycling at all times of the day. It’s also the perfect place for a picnic.
Lake Monger is in the suburb of Leederville, which is a 10-minute drive from Perth.
