Multi-Million Dollar Refurbishment of Accor Vacation Club Apartments concludes in Hunter Valley

HUNTER VALLEY, AUSTRALIA (22 JANUARY, 2024) Accor Vacation Club has unveiled an anticipated $3.1 million refurbishment of 31 club apartments at Grand Mercure The Vintage in the New South Wales Hunter Valley, designed to elevate guest experiences.

The transformation of the apartments included a fresh design and palette, updated electrical systems and new lighting, new artwork and high-end features. Asked to capture the essence of a contemporary wine region, concept designer Mel Porter Design created a compelling colour palette of earthy browns, light sand, chic greys and rich burgundy, with pops of bright yellow and olive green.

Fresh plank-style vinyl flooring in common areas, plantation shutters, stone benchtops and wooden wall-mounted bedheads incorporate elements of nature into the updated apartments. With expertise from design and construction studio Dezign, the apartments underwent a ceiling-to-floor transformation with new carpet in bedrooms and living areas; new kitchen cabinetry, appliances, mixers and sinks, strip lighting and splashbacks; new living room, dining and bedroom furniture; and upgraded light switches, pendant lighting, downlights and lamps.

“The contemporary design of this refurbishment offers members immersive and comfortable spaces to enjoy, while providing the upscale experiences that are synonymous with the Accor Vacation Club brand,” said Craig Wood, CEO of Accor Vacation Club. “The advantage of the Accor Vacation Club model is that resorts are refurbished according to a regular cycle, which means members and their guests are able to stay in modern, upscale accommodation during their every stay with the club,” he added.

A chandelier with six or eight lamps above the dining table and a feature stone wall for the living room fireplace are unique touches adding elegance and sophistication. Overall, the apartment interiors maintain a contemporary look while maximising the comfort of members and guests, and providing inspiration for their exploration of the Hunter Valley.

“This project was all about balance—creating spaces that feel luxurious yet comfortable, modern yet timeless. It was a pleasure working with such a collaborative team to bring this vision to life, and we’re thrilled to see the finished result being so well received,” said Maria Ronderos, Project Manager at Dezign.

As with all Accor Vacation Club refurbishments, quality used furniture was donated to local non-profit organisations and charities where possible, while suitable metal products, packaging and wood were recycled.

Grand Mercure The Vintage welcomes close to 7,000 members and guests every year and its resort experience is rated an impressive 9 out of 10 on booking.com and 4.5 out of 5 on Tripadvisor.

During their stay, members and guests have access to a heated pool and spa, gym, tennis courts and onsite dining at NINETEEN Hunter Valley, while the hotel and The Vintage community is set around an 18-hole golf course designed by Greg Norman. Accor Vacation Club owns 15 one-bedroom apartments and 16 two-bedroom apartments, all including ample space, complimentary Wi-Fi, full kitchens, washing and drying facilities, and private balconies. The apartments are surrounded by the Hunter Valley’s acclaimed wineries and cellar doors and are perfectly positioned in the Brokenback Mountains for guests’ exploration of the region.

Accor Vacation Club is one of the region’s leading vacation clubs, offering its close to 30,000 members access to 24 beautiful properties across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. The club is managed and developed by Travel + Leisure Co. (NYSE:TNL), the world’s leading membership and leisure travel company.
