PALM COVE, QUEENSLAND (APRIL, 2025) – Accor Vacation Club has started a $4.7 million refurbishment of its apartments at The Sebel Palm Cove and Coral Coast Resort Palm Cove to enhance guests’ Tropical North Queensland experience.

The renewal of 57 apartments between both resorts is likely to conclude in the coming months and will boost the local economy by utilising an estimated 20 tradespeople and contractors. Research also indicates vacation club members tend to spend greater amounts when on holiday – more than $3,500 a trip – meaning guests have an annual economic impact in the local economy of close to $10 million.

“Accor Vacation Club strives to give its members the upscale experience they would expect at an Accor-branded property. Accor properties are renowned for thoughtful, cutting-edge design and a regular refurbishment cycle ensures our club properties remain contemporary and tasteful,” said Craig Wood, CEO Accor Vacation Club.

“This substantial investment in our Palm Cove apartments will ensure Accor Vacation Club members continue to enjoy their time in the region,” he added.

With a ‘contemporary coastal’ theme inspired by the property’s tropical locality, unique species and Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage Listed rainforests nearby, all 37 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments at The Sebel Palm Cove will be updated with a clean, energetic design with hues of white, tan and blue. Crafted by melporterdesign, the colour palette is neutral with pops of colour added in layered textures through eye-catching artwork, cushions and rugs, wallpaper, and feature walls in the larger apartments.

All rooms will be repainted and freshened with new carpet in the bedrooms, new dining settings, bedheads, bedside tables and lamps, lounge suites, and outdoor settings for balconies. All resort apartments have kitchens or kitchenettes and the appliances will be updated, while a dishwasher drawer will be added to the studio rooms. Natural materials like timber will be prominent in the furnishings, while existing tiles and VJ panelling will remain.

Accor Vacation Club also owns 20 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments at the nearby Coral Coast Resort Palm Cove, which will be renovated with a ‘contemporary coastal’ theme, featuring a softer colour palette rich in white, tan and olive green.

These apartments will be repainted and supplied with new appliances in the kitchen, living and dining rooms, while new splashbacks and stone benches will be installed in the kitchens. New carpet and bedheads will refresh the rooms, along with timber wall battening in the living and dining spaces of all three-bedroom apartments and some of the two-bedroom apartments.

Accor Vacation Club is one of the region’s leading vacation clubs, providing close to 30,000 members access to 24 resorts across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. Club rooms are utilised principally by members but can be accessed by the public when members choose to exchange their points for accommodation elsewhere or other benefits.

The Sebel Palm Cove offers generous, self-contained apartments close to the beach, and boutiques, bars and cafes at Palm Cove Village, along with a large lagoon pool and complimentary Wi-Fi. The property has a post-stay score of 8.9 out of 10 amongst club members, a rating mirrored by TripAdvisor, booking.com and members of ALL, Accor’s loyalty program.

Coral Coast Resort Palm Cove is a short walk from the beach and Palm Cove Village, and offers a 25-metre lap pool, additional outdoor pool, gym and sauna.
