We had a lovely stay in a club room (203?) for 8 days at The Sebel Manly. The first thing that impressed was the welcome we received from the Reception staff, which was continued with every staff member we met from that time on.
We had trouble with the Microwave Oven, partly because we don’t use one at home but also because there were no instructions in the room for any of the electrical installations. Reception came up to help us with the Microwave, and I managed to work out the TV. Unfortunately Daisy never did! There was no printed ‘information’ in the room at all, and that extended to no visitor information for things such as ‘what’s on in Manly, where to eat, shop for food, tourist attractions, etc.’ Perhaps that is a COVID restriction? If so, can it be added to the TV home page?
Separately, it’s the only club property where the bedside clock was set to the right time. Perhaps an internal memo needs to be sent to say ‘this is how you do it!
I did notice a couple of cleanliness matters on a couple of towels and pillows but they were very minor and Daisy didn’t comment at all, so maybe that was just me? There were a couple of marks on towels and pillows that I didn’t think should have been there, which is possibly a laundry suppler issue to be taken up. Otherwise the room and balcony were spotlessly clean.
And finally, thank you for getting the fire alarm set off at 7.15 a.m. on the day we were checking out. 7.00 a.m. was our planned time to get up, but the ‘evacuate now’ broadcast was a bit of a worry and made sure we were out early!
We have had some great experiences with the club and feel our investment from years ago was a truly worthwhile investment. We have stayed at club properties and Accor hotels on points in VIC, NSW, QLD, SA and WA, plus NZ South and North. It requires planning and commitment in timing, but if you can work with that, and we can because of no school holiday restrictions, then you can really enjoy the facilities everywhere. (We skipped the pool at Manly!)
I would love to extend from Bronze membership, but given our age and limited income (we are both in mid-seventies) it’s not a financial option for us.
